Satuk Buğra Han İngilizce BiyografiForum AlevAbdulkerim Satuk Bugra Khan is the first Muslim-Turk ruler. His exact birth date is not known. His father was Bezir Khan, from Karahanli ruler family. Upon his father's death, he was brought up under protection of his uncle and stepfather Ogulcak Kadir Khan.
When Satuk Bugra Khan was twelve, some conflict occurred between the princes of Muslim Samanli State ruling over Maveraunnehir and Horasan regions. One of them, Nasır bin Ahmed, took shelter in Oğulcak Kadir Khan's country. He treated him well, and gave the administration of Artuç town. Artuç region became a center of trade due to Nasır bin Ahmed's efforts and visiting Muslim tradesmen. Satuk Buğra was also among the visitors of Artuç. He met Nasır bin Ahmed and learned Islam from him, and became a Muslim. He took the name Abdulkerim.
He announced that he was a Muslim when he was twenty five and started fighting against his uncle. He made Fergana war against him. First he seized Atbaşı castle. Then he marched on Kaşgar with an army of three thousand people and conquered the city.He killed his uncle Ogulcak Kadir Khan and succeeded in ascending to Karahanli throne.He ensured unity in the country under his domination. He spread Islam in Turkish countries rapidly. Islam scholars such as Ebu'l-Hasan Muhammad guided and encouraged Satuk Bugra Khan.
Abdulkerim Satuk Buğra Khan seized one by one Turkistan cities where Yagma, Çigil, Oghuz tribes had settled down. At the same time, Big Khan Bazır Arslan, who dominated eastern part of Karahanlilar State, declared war on Abdulkerim Satuk Buğra Khan in 924 with assistance of Chinese. Satuk Bugra Khan fought Balasagun war against him with support of Muslims and came out victorious.
After that, Satuk Buğra Khan, who reigned for 31 years, caused thousands of people to be converted into Islam with his good and fair governance. In 955 (H 344), he passed away in Artuç town in the vicinity of Kaşgar and was buried there. After Abdulkerim Satuk Buğra Khan, in his sons' period many Islam scholars came to his country and told about true Islam and tried spreading of it. His son Musa Tunga acceded to the throne after him. Then his son Baytaş Suleyman Arslan reigned. It is reported that he had other sons and daughters.
